Welcome to the Urban Solutions Journal, a publication for anyone with an impactful story about making cities better. If you have been involved in a real-world, solutions-focused project that has helped to transform urban life sustainably, I would love to hear from you.
Whether you are an urban planner, architect, designer, activist, researcher, or resident: if your story fits the criteria below, this could be a great place to share it.
Start by learning more about the journal and this approach to journalism:
What we’re looking for
- Your story is about the urban environment, for example mobility, housing, public space, green infrastructure, climate resilience, etc.
- The solution has been implemented (not just planned or proposed).
- You can clearly explain the problem, the solution, and the impact.
- You have evidence that it works (this could be data, feedback, or observed outcomes).
- The focus is not on a specific product, design firm, or one-off idea, but on a replicable approach or insight that others can learn from.
How stories are published
Stories can be:
- Written by you (as a guest contributor),
- Co-written with me, or
- Shared through an interview format
Let me know which option you’re most comfortable with! Just fill out the short Contributor Form to get started. I’ll follow up to discuss next steps and the best way to bring your story to life.
A few tips for contributors
- The Urban Solutions Journal focuses on implemented success stories — what worked, how, and why.
- Our audience is a diverse, international community of urbanists and curious citizens. Write in a way that is clear, accessible, and engaging.
- Include images and concrete data where possible.
- End with the key lessons others can take away from your experience.
While we are not able to offer payment at this time, we will make sure your story is widely shared and professionally presented, giving you visibility and impact among a growing global readership.
Looking forward to your stories!
