Exciting news: The ISOCARP Awards for Women in Planning are open for nominations for the first time. They will celebrate outstanding women, organisations, companies, policies, initiatives, research and planning work advancing more inclusive and gender-responsive planning worldwide.
Nominations are open across three pillars:
PILLAR 1: Inspiring Individuals
Recognising exceptional women planners who have contributed to the profession at different stages of their careers.
PILLAR 2: Inclusive & Equitable Organisational Culture
Recognising public service entities, organisations, academic institutions, and private practices that create workplaces, policies, and cultures where women can thrive.
PILLAR 3: Gender-Responsive Planning Practice, Policy & Research
Recognising outstanding work that puts gender inclusion into planning practice, policy and research via gender-informed projects, policies, programmes, toolkits or developments.

ISOCARP will host the Women in Planning Awards & Planning Day on November 23-24 in Glasgow, Scotland and you can still register to attend. I’ll be there as an official media partner, learning about Glasgow’s unique gender-responsive urban planning approach and regeneration efforts, and of course learning from the other women about gender-responsive cities.
The programme will include:
- Keynote speakers and thematic sessions
- The first standalone ISOCARP Women in Planning Awards Ceremony
- Walking tours in Glasgow exploring “urban regeneration and the feminist city”
- A networking reception for all participants
I will also host my Urban Solutions Journalism Academy at the event, exploring how solutions journalism can contribute to discussions around gender responsiveness. I hope to see you there. Otherwise, you can still sign up to my free online Academy on September 24:
