About Me

Urban development is a field full of good intentions and underreported successes. My work is about closing that gap, finding the initiatives that are quietly working, and making sure they reach the people who need to know about them.

I am Laura Puttkamer, an urban journalist and communications consultant based in London, UK. I hold a Master’s degree in Global Urban Development and Planning, and have lived and worked in Germany, Ethiopia, India, Mexico, and the UK. I work in English, German, Spanish, and French.

Since 2016, I have worked with organisations including GIZ, Cities Alliance, the European Union, UNESCO, UN-Habitat, Harvard Bloomberg Cities, and UCLG on communications projects spanning urban participation, sustainable development, and SDG 11. I also write independently for publications covering cities and urban planning.

I see my role as a translator between technical expertise and public understanding, between local practice and international policy, between what cities are doing and what the world needs to hear about it.

If you are working on something that deserves a wider audience, get in touch with me at  laura@parcitypatory.org.
